1st off I will take some blame as I should have read MUCH deeper into the reviews.
1- The vacuum is a top heavy Engineering FLOP. The cat could easily tip this over. Seriously that bad.
2- The plastic elbow that sticks out 3" on the back side is just a
breakage waiting to happen. That is the weakest stability/balanced
direction also. Another Engineering FLOP.
3- The intake head is so
narrow that if you have and couch or coffee table etc... that has a bump
out or overhang the mid part of the body hits and the intake doesn't
even get tight to the furniture. Yes from the top it looks like the
intake head is wider than the body but upon turning upside down and
lookin at the roller, The roller is 1.25" from each side. Engineering
FLOP.
4- The intake head is at least 2" less wide than a standard
vacuum. Total is 9 1/8", So if you have a mid size or bigger work zone
you will notice at least a 20% increase in working time as this is at
least 20% narrower than a standard vacuum. Not really a flop, just
inefficient.
5- All the tools do not attach. Hmm we all know what
happens to those couple small items in about a year. The ones that do I
can see not staying there once pulled in/off and put back on several
times.
To many people that claim this thing has awesome suction and
the holding tank has tons of stuff in it that the old vacuum didn't pick
up,,, well I'm guessing mostly because there is brand new SHARP
bristles on the roller. That would be your Carpet/rug being shaved. Not
hard to figure that out. Will see 6 months from now.
Only positive I
see so far is price. You can buy 3 of these for the price of some of the
fancy Names but will the hassle and down time of when it breaks be
worth it.
I'm sorry but how could any Engineer and or CEO/board member be proud of this vacuum???
I will give it a fair shot and update the review as time moves on.
Shortly
after I purchased this vacuum, I came to Amazon to write my review. My
review couldn't be submitted because Amazon had the reviews for this
product locked down due to suspicious review activity. If I had known
that before buying, I probably wouldn't have purchased the vacuum. I
feel like Amazon should let their customers know if reviews for a
specific product have been locked down due to suspicious activity.
Cons:
--Cord
is about 15' too short. I use this in a two bedroom apartment (1,236
sq. ft) and have to plug it into three different outlets to reach all of
the areas in the apartment.
--Power button is in an odd place
--Canister detachment method should be easier
--Power
cord enters vacuum at the very bottom. Unless you loop it over the top
cord wrap arm, you'll constantly step on the cord.
Pros:
--Suction is great
--Edge to edge cleaning couldn't be better
--Lightweight
--Moves easy
--Attachments work great
--Right price
I've
had a Dyson DC07 since about 2003. With regular filter replacements,
that vacuum cleaner works better than great. We've temporarily
relocated and didn't want to bring the Dyson with us so based on
previous reviews, I bought the Shark. I'd say the suction is about 75%
of what the Dyson does based on my experience. The Dyson is more
ergonomically friendly and that's what the Shark is lacking.
Bottom line, I'd recommend this vacuum cleaner but if you've got a bigger budget, go with something better.
This
Shark is a very powerful, compact, and maneuverable vacuum! It pulls
more crud out of my carpets than any other vacuum I've ever used. The
rotating beater bar pulls the unit through even very plush carpets with
ease - very similar to the feel of a self-propelled mower. It's a
terrific value, but does have a couple of minor flaws:
Power cord
- Whoever determined that the power cord should terminate at the base
of the unit needs a swift kick in the groin - daily! I'm constantly
catching the power cord with my own feet and/or having to try to wrangle
it up away from my feet. I understand that the modular design makes the
cord placement challenging, but more effort needed to be put into
managing the cord so it wouldn't be a perpetual tripping hazard. I'm
convinced the fellow who designed this hasn't spent more than 5 minutes
actually using the product.
Also, the cord really needs to be
another 6-9' longer since most "older" homes - y'know, those that
pre-date the invention of the compact disc - aren't peppered nearly so
liberally with power outlets as newer, more tech-aware homes.
Vacuum
hose - It's a small gripe, but that vacuum hose could sure stand to be
just another 12" longer or allow a bit more stretch.
I
have been using this vacuum for a few months now, after purchasing and
returning 3 other vacuums. This vacuum is seriously great for the price
point. It has better suction then my Dyson did, for less than half the
price. The only problem that I gave with it is that the hose is a little
weird. It is the length it is going to be without being extendable so
you have to get right up to whatever you want to vacuum with the hose
portion or else the vacuum with fall over and I am concerned that the
hose will get loose/saggy over time. Still, I would buy this vacuum
again because you really can't beat that kind of cleaning power for so
cheap.
We
purchased this vacuum as an attempt to get something that would
actually suck! This delivers! It actually left vacuum trac marks in the
carpet, and the room even smelled fresher then when we used our old
vacuum...I am thinking this has to be because of the filters, and no
"dust" is escaping back into the air. This is a heavy vacuum, so not
the easiest to use on stairs. So will likely use the pet hair attachment
and crevice tool for that job. Because of the WEIGHT of the machine I
did take off one star for versatility, and three for "light weight"
because it is very heavy. That is a good and bad thing, but for
cleaning the carpets it is a very good thing. Cannot belive the
disgusting dust that this thing picked up! We purchased extra filters
at the same time as the vacuum so we can wash them out and be certain
they are completly dry between use. Very pleased, and the delivery was
unbelievably quick despite the Canada Post mail disruption.
